Further Information on Swimming Baths

Swimming is supposed to be one of the best forms of exercise. You can get aerobically fit, however you don’t get the constant pounding on the joint you would get if you were to go out running.  No matter what your swimming ability, or which stroke you swim – it could be front crawl, back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly, or my favourite, doggy paddle, why not get in the pool and start to feel better about yourself.

Loughborough has several swimming pools from which to choose from, be it the University’s Swimming Pool, or the pool at the Leisure Centre. Some health clubs in Loughborough also have their own pools, however these aren’t as large as the two aforementioned swimming establishments.

The first swimming pool in Loughborough, or public baths as they were known then, were located in Queens Park. In fact the building is the one which is now used as the museum and it is said to be haunted by the ghost of a swimmer!

So why not wash off those cobwebs and set yourself the goal of doing a few lengths, then maybe next week just do one additional length. Not only will you start to get fitter you will start to feel better and eventually start to look better (check with your doctor first).

And if you need some swimming trunks or speedos (banana hammocks) check out the inLoughborough guide to sports shops!
