Leicestershire Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault outside a Leicester bar.
The incident happened at around 4am on Sunday, March 31 when the 34-year-old victim was walking along Belgrave Gate. He was about to turn right onto Jubilee Road and was outside the entrance to the African Village bar when he was assaulted with a knife.
He received injuries to his face which required hospital treatment.
The suspect is described as an African male, around 5'8" tall and around 18 or 19-years-old of slim build. He was wearing a black jacket. His hair was curly at the back and was straight and dyed at the front.
Sergeant Paul Woods, who is investigating the incident said: "We know there were other people in the area at the time of the incident and we are keen to speak to them.
"Did you see a man matching this description running away from the scene? Did you see someone acting suspiciously? If so we need to hear from you. Any information could help us with our enquiries."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt 6616 Paul Woods on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 6616. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
