Officers investigating an assault in Leicester are appealing for a Good Samaritan to come forward.
The incident took place at about 8.30pm yesterday (Sunday April 13, 2008) when a 21-year-old man, was jogging along Mere Road near to its junction with Park Vale Road, and was approached by two men in a silver Audi.
The men accused the victim of damaging a nearby vehicle and when he denied this, they grabbed him and made him get into the car.
The men drove the victim around possibly the Evington area for around fifteen minutes before letting him out and assaulting him.
A member of the public assisted the injured victim in the street and took him to a nearby police station.
The victim received a head injury which did not require medical treatment.
A 20-year-old Leicester man and 27-year-old Birmingham man have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently on police bail pending further enquiries.
DC Grover Campbell, who is investigating this incident, said: "The victim has been left distressed by this incident and found the whole experience terrifying. I'm therefore very keen to hear from anyone who has any information about the incident or the offenders.
"If you were in the Mere Road near the junction with Park Vale Road, and saw the man get into the vehicle, we would like to hear from you. Or perhaps you were the Good Samaritan who assisted the victim and took him to Spinney Hill Park police station.
"Please don't think the information you have is too minor for us to be interested, even the smallest details can be vital to an enquiry."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 357 Grover Campbell at Keyham Lane CID on (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 0357. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
*Some mobile phone networks may charge for this call.
