Information on Leicester

cannabis plant

A cannabis factory has been discovered by officers from Hinckley Road local policing unit.

The factory was discovered at a house on Beaconsfield Road, off Narborough Road, at around 11.30pm yesterday (Thursday April 17).

Sergeant Andy Parkes, deputy commander of Hinckley Road local policing unit, said: "We estimate that over 500 plants are inside the property, which means that this seizure will prevent a large quantity of cannabis from getting out on to the streets.

"Investigations are ongoing to trace those responsible and we are keen to hear from anyone who has information about activity at this property.

"Local communities can play a vital part in helping us to combat the cultivation and sale of drugs by reporting any suspicious activity to police. Even if a property is not being used for illegal means, it is better that we are given the opportunity to investigate than for any criminal activity to go undetected."

Anyone with information about drugs misuse can call Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116 222 2222 or Crimestoppers, which is free* any anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
