Man robbed on Lutterworth Road

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in Lutterworth Road.

The incident happened between 12am and 12.30am in the early hours of Monday, January 19 when the 19-year-old victim was chased by three men.

They caught up with him near to the junction of Buckingham Drive and asked for his phone. When the victim refused to hand it over he was assaulted by the group. He sustained cuts of his head and required hospital treatment.

The first suspect is described as white, between 17 and 19-years-old and was of slim build with light brown or blond hair. He was wearing a beige or white tracksuit top, dark trousers and a woolly hat.

The other two suspects are described as white, between 17 and 19-years-old and of slim build. They were both wearing dark tracksuits and woolly hats.

DC Gary Dunigan, who is investigating the incident said: "This incident has left the victim feeling shaken. We would ask anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.

"Lutterworth Road is one of the main routes into and out of the city. Maybe you were on your way home from a night out? Were you on your way to pick someone up? Maybe you work as a taxi driver and had a pick up near there? We want to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious.

"We believe the suspects made off on foot up Monsell Drive. If you saw them making off from the scene, or saw where they went next, please get in touch."

Anyone with any information regarding these incidents is asked to please contact DC1939 Gary Dunigan on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1939. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
