Safe stolen from business on Narborough Road

Police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at a business premises on Narborough Road, in the area of Saxon Street, in Leicester.

The incident happened sometime between 9pm on Sunday February 1 and 10am on Monday February 2, 2009, when the premises was broken into through a back window.

A safe, which is black and brown and 60cm by 60cm in size containing a quantity of cash, was stolen. Also stolen were a quantity of Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson mobile phones

PC Julie Wolstenholme, who is investigating the incident, said: "The stolen safe is very large and extremely heavy. It's likely it would have taken more than one person to move it.

"A wheelie bin was also stolen from a nearby address. It's possible that this could have been used to transport the safe.

"Did you see anybody in the Narborough Road area struggling with a heavy object or a wheelie bin late on Sunday night or in the early hours of Monday morning? If so then please contact police.

"If you saw any suspicious vehicles in the area, saw or heard anything suspicious or have any information about this incident then please get in touch."
