Burglary on Park Hill Drive in Leicester

Police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at an address on Park Hill Drive in Leicester.

The incident happened at about 8pm on Friday January 30, 2009 when three men wearing balaclavas broke into the property through a front window.

A 68-year-old woman was sitting in the front room when a man approached her, threatened her with what is believed to be a knife and demanded money. Two other men were also present.

After being given an amount of money, the men assaulted the victim and searched the property before leaving with a substantial quantity of cash.

The men are described as between 5' 11" and 6ft tall, of slim build with one slightly shorter and stockier than the other two.

They were all dressed in black, wearing balaclavas, jackets, trousers and shoes. They are described as having local accents.

Detective Constable Sarah Walker, who is investigating the incident, said: "The victim was left extremely shaken by this incident and I would urge anybody with any information to get in touch."

"This incident didn't happen late at night, it was around 8pm in the evening. Think back, did you see any suspicious vehicles or do you remember any suspicious activity in the Park Hill Drive area at this time? If so then please contact the police.

Anybody with any information is asked to contact DC 4202 Sarah Walker on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 4202. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
