Appeal for witnesses following incidents of arson in Hinckley

Police are appealing for witnesses following two incidents of arson on Coventry Road in Hinckley.

The first incident happened at about 3.15am on Friday February 20, 2009 when a large plastic bin at the back of a shop was set alight.

The second incident happened at 3.25am when a 4x4 vehicle, parked at the front of a business premises on Coventry Road was also set on fire.

The fire service attended the scene and nobody was injured.

Police are keen to speak to two men, seen in the area at the time, in connection with these incidents

The first man is described as white, between 25 and 30-years-old, about 5' 6" tall, of skinny build with a skinny face with fair spiky hair. He was wearing a blue thigh length jacket.

The second man is also described as white, between 25 and 30-years-old, about 5' 6" tall, but of larger build.

PC Paul Hickman, who is investigating these incidents, said: "We believe the men travelled to the area in a red taxi. I would appeal to the driver of this taxi to come forward to help us with our enquiries.

"Think back, were you in the area in the early hours of the morning? Did you drop off two men matching these descriptions in Coventry Road? One of the men is believed to have had a Liverpudlian accent.

"I would appeal to anybody who witnessed either of these incidents or has any information to get in touch. Were you walking or driving down Coventry Road? Did you see two men matching these descriptions? If so, then please get in touch."
