Man assaulted in Woodhouse Eaves

Officers in Woodhouse Eaves are appealing for witnesses after a man in his sixties was assaulted in his car.

The incident happened at around 1pm on Friday, February 20 at the junction of Main Street and Beacon Road near the Bulls Head pub.

The victim had just turned right into Beacon Road when a white pick-up truck pulled up in front of him. The passenger in the van got out and punched the victim in the face through his open car window. The pick-up then drove off in the direction of Woodhouse Eaves.

The victim received injuries to his face and later attended Leicester Royal Infirmary.

It's possible that this incident followed on from an early verbal altercation between the driver of the truck and the victim on Maplewell Road and the truck may have followed the victim from there.

The man who assaulted him is described as white, aged 25 to 30-years-old and around 6'7" tall and of a broad build. He was said to have dark messy hair, unshaven and his clothes seemed to be unclean.

The driver of the vehicle is described as being white, aged 30 to 35-years-old, around 5'10" tall and of a medium build. He was said to have short fair hair and was clean shaven.

PC Kevin Palmer, the officer investigating the incident, said: "This man has been left shaken by this incident and we are urging anyone with any information to contact us.

"Do you recognise the men described? Were you in the area at the time? Did you see a white pick up truck in the area or did you see where it drove to? Any information you have could help us with our investigation."

Anybody with any information is asked to contact PC 1639 Kevin Palmer on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1639. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
