Specialist telephone equipment stolen in Kegworth

Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of valuable equipment from a car in Kegworth.

The incident occurred sometime between 7.20pm and 9.35pm on Friday March 6, 2009 when a black Peugeot 307, which was parked at a car park on Packington Hill, was broken into.

Stolen from the car were two cases which contained specialist telephone training kit consisting of phone units, chargers, a control unit and tape recorders. It is worth over £6,000 in value.

PC Kevin Gray, who is investigating the incident said: "This equipment is specialist to the victims work and she has been left extremely upset and inconvenienced as the stolen property is very expensive and she is not able to work without it.

"The victim is very keen for the recovery of this property which is useless outside the education training environment.

"It may be that someone has tried to sell the property onto businesses who work in this industry and I would ask these people to be alert to anyone selling items such as these in suspicious circumstances.

"If you were in the area between 7.20pm and 9.35pm last Friday and remember seeing anything unusual on Packington Hill please get in touch.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1124 Kevin Gray on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in identification number 1124. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
