Burglary at stables in Oakthorpe

Officers from North West Leicestershire are appealing for information regarding a burglary at a stables in Oakthorpe.

The incidents occurred between 6.30pm on Monday March 16 and 7.55am on Tuesday March 17, 2009 when a container at the yard in the Canal Street area was broken into.

Thieves took a large collection of horse equipment including grooming kits, horse medication, rugs and blankets.

PC Nathan Adkin, who is investigating this incident, said: "We would appeal to anyone who has information regarding the stolen property or knows the identity of those responsible to come forward and speak to us.

"If you are approached by anyone selling horse equipment in suspicious circumstances or at a cheap price, please get in touch.

"We would also like to remind owners of stables in the North West Leicestershire area to be vigilant and ask people to ensure their properties are left locked and secure overnight."
