Man robbed on canal towpath at Frog Island
Police in Leicester are appealing for witnesses after a 22-year-old man was robbed.
The incident happened sometime between 11.10pm and 11.30pm on Thursday March 26, 2009 as the victim was walking along the canal towpath from Frog Island towards the city centre.
He noticed someone behind and turned to see three youths on pushbikes that passed him and stopped in front of him.
They got of their bikes and asked him for the time before demanding money from him. He handed over a small amount of and the youths demanded more before assaulting him.
They rode off after the incident towards the city centre and the second youth threw his own tracksuit top into the canal.
He attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries he received.
The youths are described as between 16 and 17-years-old. The first is around 5'7" tall and of slim build. He had short brown or blond hair and slight facial stubble. He was wearing a green hooded top with writing on the front and dark jogging bottoms.
The second is described as around 5'9" tall and of slim build. He had very short black hair and a pale complexion. He was wearing a white tracksuit top and dark t-shirt.
The third is described as around 5'7" tall and of slim build.
Detective Constable Chrissie Hitchin, who is investigating the incident, said: "The victim can recall several people on the towpath at the time of the assault so we are hoping that one of these people may have witnessed what happened and has information for us.
"If you did witness the assault or know the people responsible, then we would ureg you to get in touch."
