Robbery at food store in Kegworth

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at The Co-operative food store on Market Place in Kegworth.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Saturday March 28, 2009 when two men entered the store and threatened a member of staff to open the safe.

The men went behind the counter before stealing a cash box containing a quantity of cash and making off from the store turning left towards Whatton Road.

No-one was injured during the incident and no weapon was seen.

The first suspect is described as white, of medium build and between 5'10 and 6ft tall. He was wearing a cream top and had a navy scarf pulled up over his face. The second suspect is described as of Asian appearance and between 5'10 and 6ft tall. He had a black scarf pulled up over his face.

Detective Constable Sukhvinder Obhi, who is investigating the incident, said: "Fortunately no-one was hurt during the robbery but the incident has left the staff extremely shaken.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or remembers seeing two men matching this description beforehand to contact us. Maybe you saw the men run from scene and which direction they took? If so, please get in touch.

"Any information, no matter how small it may seem to you, could help us in our investigations so please do not hesitate to contact us."
