(l-r) Carl Anthony Hurn and Martin Andrew Wain

Two drug dealers have today been sentenced to a total of seven-and-a-half years imprisonment following a covert operation by Leicestershire Constabulary's Special Operations Unit.

Carl Anthony Hurn (29) of Groby Road in Leicester Martin Wain (28) of Luther Street, Leicester were sentenced this afternoon (Friday April 24). Earlier in the day Hurn pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs and Dangerous Driving while Wain pleaded to possession with intent to supply Class A and C drugs.

Hurn received four years for the Class A charge, 18-months for the Class B and 18 months for the dangerous driving, to run concurrently. He was also banned from driving for two years on release from prison.

Wain was sentenced for three-and-a-half years for the Class A charge and 18-months for the Class C to run concurrently.

It followed an undercover operation over several months by Leicestershire Constabulary's Special Operations Unit observing several meetings between the pair.

On arrest evidence of cocaine and amphetamines was found at the home address of Martin Wain and £8,100 was found in his car, despite the fact he had been unemployed for the previous 6 months.

Carl Hurn failed to stop for a police vehicle on the M1 and when he was finally detained and arrested on Hinckley Road in Leicester, the Seat Leon he was driving was searched and found to contain tubs of amphetamine with a street value of £20,000.

Speaking after sentencing, Detective Chief Inspector David Sandall, said: "The volume of evidence detailing meetings between Wain and Hurn was so comprehensive that they had no choice but to plead guilty to the sentences against them.

"It followed a lengthy covert investigation by the Special Operations Unit into the drug dealing activities of this pair and we hope that it reassures the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland that two more dealers are off the streets."
