Officers investigating an alleged assault on a schoolboy are hoping to trace witnesses to the incident.

The incident happened at around 8.45am on Wednesday April 28, 2009 when the driver of a red BMW assaulted a 15-year-old boy on Fosse Road South near to the junction with Hinckley Road.

He was not injured during the incident.

The assault follows on from an earlier incident involving the number 104 bus traveling county bound where it is believed several youths were throwing items from the bus at motorists.

An altercation took place between the suspect and the group of youths who got off the bus at the stop on Fosse Road South near to the junction with Hinckley Road

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Darren Bridges, who is investigating the incident, said: "It's very important that we trace anyone who was in the Fosse Road South at around this time on Saturday November 8.

“We need to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or the events leading up to it.

"Even if you think the information you have is insignificant it could help us to build a better picture of what happened so please do get in touch as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 978 Darren Bridges on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a voicemail for an officer then key in his identification number 0978.
