Appeal following robbery on Gleneagles Avenue
Police in Leicester are appealing for witnesses following the report of a robbery on Gleneagles Avenue.
The incident happened at around 10am on Tuesday May 12, when the 14-year-old victim, who was walking near to Lockerbie Avenue, was approached by a youth who asked him for a cigarette.
The youth then asked the victim if he had a mobile phone. When the victim replied that he did not, the youth put his hand in the victims pocket and took a small quantity of cash.
When the victim began to walk away, the youth followed him and threatened him saying he had a knife, though this was not seen by the victim.
The victim then ran away from the youth along Lockerbie Avenue, into the driveway of a nearby house and asked a man for help. The youth then ran away from the scene.
The youth is described as white, aged around 13 to 14-years-old, about 5’6” tall, of a slim build and had short blond hair. He was wearing a pair of blue G-Star jeans and a black hooded top.
PC Alex Catlow, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The victim was left feeling scared and we would like anyone who saw the incident to contact us.
“The victim approached an elderly couple just before running away from the youth and we would like to appeal to this couple to contact us as they may have vital information that could help us with our investigation.
“We would also like to speak with the man that helped the victim. It is likely that he saw the youth and would be able to help us piece together events surrounding the robbery.
“As the incident happened in broad daylight we feel that anyone who saw the incident would have had a clear view of what happened. Anyone with information is urged to call us.”
