police, constabulary, leicestershire police Appeal following criminal damage at Bennion Pools

Officers from Beaumont Leys are appealing for witnesses after a nature area on Bennion Road was damaged.

The incident happened overnight between 7.30pm on Saturday May 16 and 9am on Sunday May 17, when property and animals at Bennion Pools had been damaged.

A sign at the nature area had been broken and thrown into the water and two young trees has been snapped in half. Two ducklings had also been killed during the incident.

PCSO James George, one of the officers investigating the incident, said: “This nature reserve is ran on public donations and so we are sure that many members of the community will be upset to hear about the incident.

“We would like to appeal to the public and ask them to help us in finding those responsible. If you can remember seeing anyone acting suspiciously in the area between the times stated, or know of anyone who was involved, we would like you to call us.

“Any information you have may help us with our investigation, no matter how insignificant it may seem.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PCSO 6099 James George on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 6099.
