Detectives investigating an attempted murder in Thurnby Lodge are appealing for key witnesses to contact them again.

A 56-year-old man is still in a serious condition at Nottingham Queens Medical Centre following the assault which happened on St Austell Road at around 2.30am on Saturday May 16. Another 56-year-old man was also assaulted in the same incident and sustained a broken leg.

Police have received a number of calls from people responding to their appeals so far but are now keen to speak to these people again.

Detective Constable Simon Collington, who is investigating the incident, explained: “There have been a number of people who have come forward with information that we have been feeding into the enquiry.

“However, many of these people have phoned and left information without leaving contact details, some people have phoned Crimestoppers and left information anonymously.

“We really need these people to contact us again so that we can talk to them in more detail. I would urge anyone who has called us with information about this incident to please contact me directly.

“Phone on the 0116 222 22 22 number and ask to be put through to my extension or alternatively follow the instructions to leave me a message using reference number 1826 and leave details of how I can contact you.

“You have been brilliant so far with the information you have provided for us, we just need to speak to you again as there are more things you may be able to tell us.”

The victims were at a party taking place in flats on St Austell Road prior to the attack and there’s a possibility people at the party witnessed the incident or events leading up to it.
