Burglary at premises on Melton Road
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a burglary at a business in Melton Road near to the junction with Windsor Avenue.
The incident happened between 7pm on Tuesday July 7 and 10am on Wednesday July 8, when a member of staff found shutters to the mobile phone shop had been opened and the glass in the door smashed.
Upon further investigation it was found that around twenty mobile phones from the shop and a quantity of cash had been taken. Phones taken in the burglary include a Nokia E90, Nokia E6500 a Sony Ericsson W980, a blackberry 9000 and a Samsung mobile phone.
PC Ruth Hallam, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The burglary has understandably caused the owner of the business a great inconvenience and we are hoping that members of the public will see this and contact us with and information they have.
“Anyone who was in the area between the times stated, who can remember seeing anyone acting suspiciously should contact us.
“We would also like people to contact us if they are approached by someone trying to sell the phones or who know someone who has acquired a number of mobile phones in suspicious circumstances. Information you have, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be vital to our investigation.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4641 Ruth Hallam on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 4641. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
