23 July 2009Essential Event for Musicians

As part of the Summer Sundae Fringe Festival, Creative Leicestershire will be hosting an informal panel discussion on the current issues affecting live music. The discussion will be held on Tuesday 11th August 6-8pm at the Leicester Creative Business Depot.

John Hart, musician, consultant and Artist Manager will chair the panel which also includes Richard Haswell, Javier Lopez and Alice Lemon:

Javier is from Midem the most important music tradeshow in the world which will be celebrating its 43rd edition in Cannes, France next January. It attracts around 10,000 professionals from 80 countries and from all sides of the music business, including the live sector. Javier is the UK Sales Manager and deals with around 1500 British clients coming to Midem each year. Alice is the new Midlands representative from the Musicians Union; the MU represents over 30,000 musicians working in all sectors of the music business, promoting the rights and interests of its members. Richard is Manager of De Montfort Hall and founded the Summer Sundae Weekender in 2001 as well as managing a programme of over 200 other live events each year.

Nick Dunn of the successful Leicester-based Horus Music said This event is a must for any artist or label which is serious about developing their profile and presence. These excellent speakers represent three very important parts of the industry, and knowledge is key to success in the music industry today. I would recommend chatting to Javier - a well respected person within the music industry and very well connected around Europe. With the world getting smaller each day, theres lots of potential to earn an income from international trade.

If you would like to attend email Lucia Masundire on lucia.masundire@leics.gov.uk to book a free place at the event.
