Police, partner agencies and residents are uniting for three days of action in Mowmacre Hill, Stocking Farm and Abbey Rise.

As part of the Safer Summer campaign, a range of activities are planned to clean up the area, remove graffiti, raise awareness of services that are available locally and to keep youngsters entertained during the holidays.

The programme of events starts today (Tuesday August 4) at Stocking Farm Community Centre where neighbourhood officers and representatives from other agencies will be available to speak with members of the community, offer advice and information.

Representatives from the police, Waste Management (recycling), Housing, Parks Services, City Wardens, Leicester Community Legal Advice Centre and Leicester Anti Social Behaviour Unit will be there between 10am and 2pm.

This will be followed by an Environmental Clean Up Day in the Stocking Farm area on Wednesday August 5. Neighbourhood officers will assist City Council staff with the clean up between 9am and 2pm. Graffiti will be cleared and leaflets handed out to raise awareness of the consequences of anti-social behaviour and services that are available in the community.

The three days of action will conclude on Thursday August 6 with the Mowmacre Playscheme for children aged between 5 and 12. Neighbourhood officers will be there from 11am to meet local youngsters and their parents. They will have items of uniform for the children to try on and a police dog handler will also attend to give a talk.

Sergeant Michelle Zakoscielny from Beaumont Leys Police Station said: The events will provide neighbourhood officers and representatives from other agencies with opportunities to engage with residents of all ages and raise awareness of the services that are available.

The Environmental Clean Up Day will help to improve the look of the area but also raise awareness of the consequences of anti-social behaviour, such as litter, fly tipping and graffiti. We hope these days of action are well supported by the community.

For more information about any of the events please call Jessica Essex on 0116 222 2222, extension 3355.
