Police have issued the photos ofsix men convicted of fraud offences to warn people in the building trade against using them.

Kevin Brian Bates (39), Anthony Lee Derek Holehouse (26) Karl Anthony Beard (32) and Dean Gavin Freestone (25) who are all from the Nottingham area, were sentenced to a total of six years.

In November 2005 Leicestershire Constabulary started an investigation into a fraudulent company called Power Associates Ltd (PA Ltd) based in Burnmoor Street, Leicester. This lead to the identification of three other fraudulent companies in Nottinghamshire.

Following a joint investigation between Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire the suspects were identified and charged in December 2007. The defendants all pleaded guilty to fraudulent company trading at Leicester Crown Court on June 19, 2009.

Following guilty pleas all the defendants have now been sentenced.

Detective Sergeant Edward Jones, who lead the investigation said: This type of fraud is extremely time consuming to investigate and it is down to he dedication and perseverance of the officers involved that we were able to bring these men before the courts.

These men were setting up bogus companies and obtaining goods on credit with suppliers, but never paying the balance. When the suppliers chased them for payment all remnants of the company and its employees had disappeared as the gang moved on to the next bogus company.

The best way to stop these people from committing offences again is to make their faces known in the business world.

All these companies revolve around the building and construction industry. If you work in this industry we would ask you to take a moment to look at the photographs and remember the names and faces. It is possible there are more people out their still committing these offences and we would urge businesses to be on their guard.

Beard received a 36 week suspended sentence and 100 hours of community service.

Freestone received a 51 week suspended sentence and 150 hours community service.

In addition to the charges in relation to Power Associates Ltd, Bates was also convicted of the fraudulent trading of Oxoide Engineering Ltd, Speedy Diamond Drilling Ltd and JTF Services Ltd and was convicted of theft from four companies. He was sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment and disqualified from being a company director for 15 years.

Holehouse was also convicted of fraudulent company trading of JTF Services Ltd and West Yorkshire based company Crossfield Construction Ltd. He was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment and disqualified from being a company director for 10 years.

Two further defendants were sentenced for fraud offences relating to companies in Nottingham.

Jonathon Crossfield (26) was convicted of fraudulent trading at Crossfield Construction Ltd. He was sentenced to one and a half years imprisonment.

Christopher Yorke (37) who is also based in Nottingham was convicted of fraudulent company trading of Oxoide Engineering Ltd and Speedy Diamond Drilling Ltd. He received a two and a half years imprisonment and was disqualified from being a company director for 10 years.
