Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of an assault at a bus stop on Counting House Road, Leicester.

The incident happened at around 11.10pm on Wednesday September 9, when the 19-year-old victim was approached by a group of four men in a car who pulled into the slip road at the bus stop.

One of the men threw something out of the car at the victim which hit him on his head.

The car, an R registration plate, silver Volkswagen, Golf, did not stop during the assault and continued to drive through the slip road and then back onto Counting House Road.

The driver was white, the front passenger was black and one of the rear passengers was Asian.

The other rear passenger, the man who threw the object at the victim is also described as white, aged around 25 to 26-years-old and had light coloured, shaved hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood pulled up.

Following the assault the victim flagged down a car on Counting House Road to take him to hospital as his head had been cut and was bleeding.

The driver took him to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to his injuries.

The victim had seen the group drive past in their car a short while before they returned and assaulted him.

PC Jane Everson, the officer investigating the incident, said: We are hoping that by appealing for witnesses someone will come forward who saw the incident and help us with our investigation.

We would like anyone who was in the area to think back. Can you remember seeing a car matching the description? Did you see where it went to or do you know the people inside?

We believe that a number of cars had to move out of the way of the victim when he was trying to flag down a car. If you can remember seeing the victim or if you are the man who took the victim to the hospital, who we believe was driving a black car we would like to speak with you. You may have information about the incident or the events that followed it that could help with our investigation.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact PC 4590 Jane Everson on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 4590. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
