Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in New Walk, Leicester.

The incident happened at around 10.45pm on Wednesday September 9, near to Museum Square, when the 21-year-old victim was approached by a man who stood in his path.

The man first asked the victim if he had a cigarette, when the victim replied no he then asked if he had any money.

The man then threatened the victim with what is believed to be a knife, although the knife was not seen by the victim, and searched his pockets.

The man managed to take the victims cigarettes but failed to find anything else in his pockets.

He then walked away down the Museum Square.

The man is described as white, aged in his mid-twenties, around 56 to 58 tall and was of a chubby build. He had a round face and looked as though he hadnt shaved for a few days.

He was wearing a waist length, light grey rain coat with the hood pulled up.

PC Natalie Dean, the officer investigating the incident, said: The victim felt scared and intimidated throughout the incident and we hope that anyone with information will come forward.

We believe that there were people in the New Walk area at the time of the incident and would like to appeal to these people to contact us and help us with our investigation.

If you were walking down New Walk on Wednesday September 9, in the evening and can remember seeing a man matching our description or saw the incident take place, then we would like you to call us.
