Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are re-appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Manton.

The collision happened at around 2pm on Wednesday August 5, 2009 in Uppingham Road just north of The Sounding Railway Bridge.

The collision involved two vehicles, a green Vauxhall Corsa and a white refrigerated goods vehicle.

The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, Ms Janet Munro, 53, from Collyweston, Stamford received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the refrigerated goods vehicle received minor injuries but did not receive hospital treatment.

Officers are trying to trace two witnesses who may have witnessed the collision but have not as yet spoken to police.

Detective Constable Patricia Draycott, the officer investigating the incident, said: Since our last appeal made in August, our investigations have been continuing into the collision.

We are trying to locate an elderly couple who were travelling in a dark green Volvo or Saab car behind the white refrigerated goods vehicle. The car may have been an old shaped J or K registration plate. They could have witnessed the collision or saw the events leading to it so we would urge them to contact us.

The Corsa was travelling along the road from Oakham in the direction of Uppingham and the refrigerated vehicle was travelling in the opposite direction.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 4007 Patricia Draycott on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 4007. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
