Police have released the Eigan fit of a man they are trying to trace in connection with a robbery in Belgrave, Leicester.

The incident happened at around 9.50pm on Thursday September 24, when the 28-year-old victim was walking to his car on Purcell Road, which was parked near to the corner with Dorset Street.

Three men, in a small blue car, approached the victim.

The men assaulted the victim, kicking and punching him, and stole two bags that he was carrying, containing jewellery.

The victim finally managed to run away from the suspects and headed towards Melton Road.

The victim received injuries to his face, knee, stomach and back as a result of the robbery and attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

One of the men is described as black, aged in his early thirties, around 58 tall and of a muscular build. He was wearing a black hooded top, a black woolly hat and had a gold tooth, possibly one of his upper right teeth.

The other two men were wearing balaclavas and gloves.

Detective Constable Nick Evans, the officer investigating the incident, said: The victim has been left scared and upset after the assault and we are hoping that anyone with information will contact us.

If you can remember seeing the robbery or recognise the man in the picture, we would like to talk to you.

We would also like to ask jewellers to keep an eye out for jewellery they suspect could be stolen. There were two bags of jewellery which is quite a significant amount, so if you know someone who has acquired any jewellery or who has tried to sell it to you and you suspect it could stolen, then please get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 1178 Nick Evans on 0116 222 2222 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer. When prompted key in his identification number 1178. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.

*Please note, some mobile phone providers may charge for this call.
