Teamworks Blooming Marvellous at Nelson Mandela Park
Police officers, City Council grounds workers and local residents have pulled together to plant flower bulbs for the spring, as part of the seasons ground preparations at Leicesters Nelson Mandela Park, close to the Leicester Tigers' Stadium.
Various sports clubs use this green flood-lit ground for practice meetings; it was once used by Leicester Tigers Rugby Club before the club become a part of the professional game. The group will be planting, daffodil, crocus and tulips bulbs in flower beds in-and-around the park.
PC Mark Stinson of Leicestershire Constabulary is part of the local neighbourhood policing team said: The local residents wanted to build on our successful ground work exercise last year and do something extra, making a contribution the local community by improving the park which is enjoyed by all.
Everyones hard work planting the bulbs is rewarded in the spring. For the next five to six months, theyll be growing and changing into flowers for the benefit of the people of Leicester, he concluded.
