Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a purse from a woman in Thurmaston.

The incident happened between 5pm and 5.30pm on Saturday October 24, when the victim noticed that her purse had been taken from her coat pocket whilst she was shopping at a store in Thurmaston retail park, Barkby Road.

The stolen purse is described as a red leather purse with a zip along it and a button over the top. Inside were a number of cards and some cash.

Police are interested in speaking to a man and woman who were seen close to the victim when her purse went missing.

The woman is described as being of an Eastern European appearance with long black hair that was tied back in a neat pony tail. She was around 53 to 54 tall, was in her late twenties to early thirties and of slim to medium build. She was wearing a dark coloured jacket.

The man is also described as being of an Eastern European appearance with short black hair. He was clean shaven, between 58 and 59 tall, of slim to medium build and look around the same age as the woman.

PC Edward Stephenson, the officer investigating the incident, said: We are appealing for witnesses, in particular the man and woman who were near the woman at the time of the incident, to call us.

Following the incident the victim shouted after the man and woman, this may have grabbed your attention and you may have seen where the two went to after they left the store.

We would also like to appeal to the man or woman described above, or anyone who thinks they know who them, to contact us and help us with our investigation.
