Robbery in Leicester
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a robbery in Leicester.
The incident happened between 7pm and 7.15pm on Wednesday November 4, when the victim, 29-years-old, and his two friends were walking along The Newarke, towards Leicester city centre.
As the group approached a construction site at the end of the road the victim felt someone hit him to the back of the head and turned to see two men standing behind him.
The men began shouting at the victim and then pulled his bag from his arm.
As the victims friend tried to stop the suspects from taking the bag he was also hit.
The victim and his friend then chased the two men back down The Newarke until before seeing the suspects get into a silver hatchback car and drive off along Western Boulevard.
Both victims received minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.
The stolen bag is described as a black satchel with the words Ecco Unlimitied stitched on the bottom half. Inside the bag was a black leather wallet, a black Nokia mobile phone, a passport, a driving licence and a large quantity of cash.
The first suspect is described as black or Asian, between 59 and 510 tall, of medium build and wore a grey hooded jacket with the hood up.
The second suspect is described as white, around 6ft tall, of large build and around 21-years-old. He had very short light coloured hair and a round face.
PC Richard Wightman, the officer investigating the incident said: We are appealing to anyone who knows anything about this incident or those responsible to contact us.
We believe there were a few people in the area at the time of the robbery and would like to appeal to these people to call us.
Maybe you were out in the area drinking? Perhaps you can remember hearing shouting in The Newarke which attracted your attention? Maybe you saw the silver car drive off along Western Boulevard or saw the suspects following the victim before the robbery? If so then please call and help us with our investigation.
