Residents of Moira Street in Belgrave praise local beat officer
Moira Street residents in Belgrave have praised their local beat officer for helping to reduce anti-social behaviour on their street.
Residents had complained about two local families who were playing loud music until the early hours of the morning and damaging cars.
Belgrave beat officer PC 1974 Kevin Mistry working in conjunction with the Leicester Anti-Social Behaviour Unit (LASBU) launched an investigation involving the residents, a relevant housing association and a private landlord. As a result, two families identified as causing many of the problems were evicted from the area.
Sergeant Mark Zanker from Keyham Lane local policing unit said: We aregrateful for the support from everyone whoworkedtogether with PC Mistry to challenge this anti-social behaviour.
It has made a positive impact to the quality of life for the residents of Moira Street and would urge residents to continue telling us about any concerns that they may have at our regular police consultation meetings and local beat surgeries.
It is hoped that this will send a clear message to others that this behaviour will not be tolerated.
Leicestershire Constabulary and partner agencies are committed to reducing anti-social behaviour and will continue to follow up any issues and closely monitor the situation when anti-social behaviour is reported.
Neil Canham from the Leicester Anti-Social Behaviour Unit (LASBU) said: This is a great example of partnership working. The local beat officer and our investigator responded to the complaints of the residents of Moira Street and a considerable amount of time and effort went into sorting out the individuals involved in the anti-social behaviour.
We have recently been in touch with the local residents who have been suffering as a result of the behaviour of these two families and they say the area has returned to normal and is now like it used to be, a nice quiet, safe place to live in.
