Disabled people living in Leicestershire are being offered the chance to find out more about changes taking place in social care.

Locally and nationally, adults are being given more choice and control over the care they receive.

Considered to be one of the most significant changes in the last 50 years, it means that some people now receive personal budgets to tailor the services they receive, as well as a direct cash payment to pay for this support.

On 2nd December, disabled people across Leicestershire are invited to an event where they can hear about the changes and ask any questions. People are also encouraged to help shape the changes by giving their views.

David Sprason, County Council Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health, said: "Personalisation will re-shape adult social care over the coming years and will have a major impact on many other services as well.

"It's vital that we involve residents so that services reflect their needs and wishes and I would urge disabled people living in Leicestershire to book a place at this event."

The event has been organised in partnership with Leicester Centre for Integrated Living and is being held on Wednesday, 2nd December at Walkers Stadium - people do not have to be receiving social care or County Council support to attend.
