police, constabulary, leicestershire policeAppeal following dog bite in Loughborough

Police are appealing for the owners of a dog that bit a woman in Southfields Park, Loughborough, to come forward.

The incident happened at about 11.50pm on Saturday November 21, when the 26-year-old victim was bit by the dog as she tried to leave the park, on Leicester Road.

The victim had a brief discussion with the two owners following the incident and then went home.

She then went to the Loughborough NHS Walk-in centre for treatment to minor injuries to her leg.

The dog is described as a large white dog, similar to an American bulldog.

One of the owners is described as a white man, aged between 35 and 40-years-old, about 55 tall and was of large build.

The second owner was a white woman, aged in her mid thirties, around 52 tall and of slim build.

Both owners spoke with a Scottish accent and the victim saw them get out of a dark blue or black car just before the incident.

Detective Constable Loyala Overlunde, the officer investigating the incident, said: If you think you are the owners of this dog and can remember the incident from Saturday November 21, then please get in touch.

We would also like to appeal to anyone who was in the park at the time or who knows the owners. If you witnessed the incident or saw the dog and its owners then please call.

It is possible that the owners regularly walk their dog on the park so if you frequently go to Southfields Park and have seen two people matching the descriptions walking the dog described, we would like to speak with you. Hopefully any information we get from the public will help us with our investigation.

Anybody with any information is asked to contact DC 445 Loyala Overlunde on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 0445. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.

* Please note, some mobile phone service providers may charge for this call.
