Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Wymeswold.

The collision happened at about 2.40pm on Monday December 7 on the A46 near to the Dalby intersection and involved two vehicles, a blue Mitsubishi Colt and a grey Ford Transit long wheel base van.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 38-year-old woman, received serious injuries and was taken to the Queens Medical Centre, in Nottingham, for treatment.

The driver of the Ford Transit did not receive any injuries.

Detective Constable Nick Bryan, the officer investigating the incident, said: The two vehicles were travelling on the same carriageway in the direction of Nottingham when the collision happened.

We would like anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to contact us.

We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the blue Mitsubishi Colt prior to the collision.
