Police are appealing for witnesses after a trailer full of computer equipment was stolen from Meridian Business Park.

The incident happened between 2.30am and 3.50am on Thursday December 3, 2009 when a trailer was broken into outside the company's premises.

The premises were locked and closed at around 11.30pm on Wednesday night.

Night workers were on site between 12.30am and 2.30am and the trailer was parked and secured in the forecourt.

When an employee arrived at 3.50am the gates to the premises were still closed and locked however the curtain of the trailer had several cuts and a large area had been cut open and it was discovered that a large quantity of goods were missing.

Stolen from the trailer were various computer items including HD drives, USB sticks and scanners valued at nearly 150,000.

The company has offered a reward for any information which may that lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible and the return of the stolen property.

PC Kelly Wilson, who is investigating the incident said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Meridian Business Park area on Thursday December 3 and may have witnessed any suspicious activity related to this incident.

This burglary has caused the business a huge inconvenience, and they are very keen to recover their property.

Whoever stole these items would have needed a vehicle to take them away. Did you see someone in the area loading computer equipment into a van, lorry or car?

"We also want to hear from anyone who knows what may have happened to the equipment taken. Has anyone offered you any computer equipment at a cheap price? Do you know someone who has recently acquired a large number of them?"

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4743 Kelly Wilson on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 4743. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
