Police in Birstall are appealing for witnesses after two cars parked on Colindale Avenue had racially offensive graffiti scratched into the paintwork.

The incident happened sometime between 6.30pm on Thursday December 3 and 6.20am on Friday December 4.

One car had racist graffiti on the passenger side door while the other had a scratch running along the whole of the side of the vehicle.

House to house enquiries have been completed in the area but police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity.

PC Ian Mundy, from Charnwood local policing unit, said: It isnt like this was a quickly executed example of criminal damage, they didnt just pull off a number plate as they ran past. They would have stood for a while scratching these words into the passenger side door.

If you saw the incident or you have any information as to who may be responsible then please get in touch.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 2995 Ian Mundy on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 2995. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
