Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery on Kirloe Avenue in Leicester Forest East.

The incident happened at about 7.40pm on Saturday December 26, 2009, when the victim, a 52-year-old man driving a beige Ford Galaxy, stopped the car and turned off the ignition.

Three other men, aged 53, 49 and 31-years-old were also in the vehicle.

A silver Ford Mondeo then pulled up alongside the Galaxy. Four men got out and approached the car, with one smashing the drivers window with a baseball bat.

Two of the victims (aged 52 and 49) sat in the front of the car were assaulted by the suspects. They received minor injuries and were later taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The keys to the Ford Galaxy were stolen as was the vehicle and various items of property, including cash, an MP3 player and two silver Lenovo laptops.

The Mondeo and the Galaxy then drove off along Kirloe Avenue, turning right onto the A47 Hinckley Road.

The Galaxy was recovered in the Ratby area on Thursday December 31, 2009.

All four suspects have been described as wearing balaclavas or helmets and gloves. One of the men is described as white, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, 59 tall, of medium build and wearing a dark coloured jacket, blue jeans and white trainers. Another is described as white, about 6ft tall, of stocky build and wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Seamus Burns, who is investigating the incident, said: This incident happened in the evening on Boxing Day. I would urge people to think back. Where you in the Leicester Forest East area that night? Did you see a Ford Mondeo or a Ford Galaxy?

The Mondeo may have been parked near to the Red Cow Public House or at a garage opposite the Kirby Muxloe garage. Did you see a car matching this description in either of these places? Did you see anybody in or close to the vehicle? If so, please contact me.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 1504 Seamus Burns on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1504.
