police, constabulary, leicestershire policePolice appeal following incident in Aylestone

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman had items taken from her home in Wigston Lane, Aylestone.

The incident happened at about 4.55pm on Monday January 11, when the 77-year-old victim opened the door of her flat to two boys.

They forced their way through her door, made an untidy search of her home and stole two bottles of alcohol and some cash

Both suspects were described as white and aged between 16 to 18-years-old.

One of them is described as being around 55 tall of slim build and was wearing a blue hooded top with the hood up and baggy trousers.

The second suspect was slightly bigger than the first, being around 57 tall.

Detective Constable Sarah Walker, the officer investigating the incident, said: Having someone force themselves into your home when you are alone would be a frightening experience for anyone so understandably the victim has been left feeling very shaken.

We have spoken to people in the area, completed house to house enquiries and even looked at CCTV from local shops, but we are still missing that vital piece of information that will lead us to the suspects.

We would like people in the area to cast their minds back to last Monday afternoon. Can you remember seeing two boys acting suspiciously? Maybe you saw them hanging around in Wigston Lane? Maybe you overheard them speaking about the incident and know who they are? Or perhaps you saw where they went to? Any information you have could be vital so please call.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 4202 Sarah Walker on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 4202. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.

* Please note, some mobile 'phone service providers may charge for this call.
